Arrive early on weekends — the main parking lot fills by 10 AM in summer. The park is at its most beautiful in early morning light and at golden hour.
Moderate Dog OKSteep but deeply rewarding climb up Mt. Randall, one of the tallest dunes in the park at over 240 feet above Lake Michigan. The summit delivers sweeping panoramic views of the lake and surrounding forest that justify every step of the ascent. Best experienced in spring and fall when the light is golden and the crowds are thin.
Moderate Dog OKThe signature loop of the park, offering a complete Warren Dunes experience — pristine shoreline, lush backdune forest, and open sandy dunes. Includes a mile-long stretch along the beach. Wear sturdy shoes and bring bug spray in summer. This is the trail to do if you only have time for one.
Easy Dog OKA scenic hike primarily following the Lake Michigan shoreline with beautiful views of the sandy beach. Starts in a wooded area — excellent for wildflowers in spring and summer. The gentlest option in the park and ideal for a relaxed morning walk before breakfast.
Easy Dog OKA short, accessible trail winding through the park's wooded backdune areas. Great for a quick nature walk or as a warm-up before tackling the larger dune trails. Excellent birdwatching in the early morning hours.
Easy Dog OKA pleasant loop through the forested backdunes area, offering a quieter alternative to the main dune trails. Named for the yellow birch trees that line the path. Peaceful and meditative — the kind of walk that resets the mind.
